Professor, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan
Dr. Chin-Chang Hung is currently a Professor at the Department of Oceanography, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan. He completed his Ph.D. at Old Dominion University, Virginia, USA in 1999. His research interests are to better understand mechanisms affecting marine carbon cycling in the ocean and to study natural events (dust storms, typhoons, ocean acidification, global warming) affecting nutrient dynamics, eutrophication, plankton community composition, and biological carbon pump in oceans and/or marginal seas. Additionally, Dr. Hung works on biogeochemical responses of internal waves and mesoscale eddies on chlorophyll-a variation and biological carbon pump in the euphotic zone, the twilight zone, and the deep ocean via seagoing observations and satellite images. Furthermore, Dr. Hung also works on the application of smart aquaculture technology such as real-time hydrographic sensors and underwater video systems to monitor marine plankton, shrimp behavior, and aquatic environment management.
