Dr. Zouhair Lachkar

Senior Scientist, Center for Prototype Climate Modeling (CPCM), NYU Abu Dhabi, UAE

Biography

Dr. Zouhair Lachkar is a senior scientist at the Center for Prototype Climate Modeling (CPCM), New York University Abu Dhabi, since 2014. He received his Ph.D. from University Pierre and Marie Curie (France) and worked as a research scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETH Zurich), Switzerland, between 2007 and 2014. His research interests are in the areas of oceanography, climate, and marine biogeochemistry. In particular, he has been investigating the marine oxygen and carbon cycles and their sensitivity to climate perturbations using a hierarchy of numerical models applied to various regions of the World Ocean, with a recent focus on the Arabian Sea. Dr. Lachkar has published around 30 scientific publications in the fields of marine biogeochemistry and ocean modeling.
